My Food

When you return from travels, you return with inspirations and new perspectives! My mother and I have always enjoyed making food together, and when you bake or cook something from another culture, that's where the fun begins. Biting into foods from your travels is another way to relive some of your favorite experiences, and when it is homemade, it makes the treat extra special

Handmade Pasta

Inspired by my pasta-making class in Italy, I decided to take my new skills and apply them at home! I used a pasta maker to make the pasta from scratch, and then I topped the pasta with delicious truffle.

Tacos

One of the highlights from my trip to Mexico was the taco tour in Puerto Vallarta. Coming home, my family and I attempted to recreate a taco lunch by making some tortillas, and then cooking beef, pork, and fish for the taco fillings.

Baklava

In Turkey, we were presented with delicious baklava everywhere! I love it when this sweet delight is topped with pistachios.

La Rosca de Reyes

This sweet Spanish bread is a special treat for "Three Kings Day," which is celebrated on January 6th. Inside the bread contains orange and lime zest, giving the flavor an extra pop!

Churros

Back to Spanish desserts! Churros were by far the hardest to make. We recently bought our own churro maker just for the occasion, made our own chocolate dip, and put some cinnamon on top of the dessert to finish it off. Biting out of the churros reminded me of the Madrid cafes and environment!

Sugar Painting

Visiting grandparents in China, I have noticed the love for sugar painting by many locals. Sugar painting includes the use of liquid, hot sugar to create a design of your choice, and it originated during the Ming Dynasty. Here, my mother and I made many attempts to create a dragon!

Mooncake

A tradition for the Mid-Autumn Festival includes the making of mooncakes! My family and I made mooncakes with fillings of red bean paste for this special Chinese holiday.

Pizza

Inspired from eating the authentic pizza in Italy, my family and I tried to recreate the simple yet delicious food at home. The crust was thin and crispy, and the shape was imperfect yet unique!

Tiramisu

Here we are back at another treat from Italy! For my father's birthday, we surprised him with his favorite dessert from Italy--tiramisu!
